STYROFOAM BANNED in Lagos State

Hello Green family!

I have one gist wey dey sweet body for you. Oya take a seat and come and hear.

Did you that the Lagos State Government has banned the use of styrofoam (aka takeaway) and single-use plastics??

E shock you abiiii? E shock me too but it's a good shock.

Do you know why?

Over the years we have discussed the dangers of plastics in the society and have clamoured on the individuals, non-governmental organizations and government parastatals to make decisions that aid this call.

The menace caused by single-use plastics to both humans and animals cannot be overemphasised.

Seeing the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources take this decision in Lagos which is known as the largest economic centre of the country is certainly a good place to start.

We hope to see this ban well effected and we hope that other states follow suit in ensuring that we live in a more sustainable environment.

Lest I forget, this is not the time to be a 'bad belle' by shouting "it won't work", "How will they enforce it?" Rather it's the time to carry a megaphone to preach it, loud it and scream it.

Be the change you want to see! Don't forget to tell a friend to tell another! Change begins with you, my dear friend.

Cheers to Lagos State on this one.

Cheers to a greener 2024.

Till another gist comes around, signing out✌🏻
