World Environment Day '23: Beat Plastic Pollution

🌍 Happy World Environment Day! 🌱🌊🌳

To commemorate this day, let's take a moment to reflect on the impact of our choices and our pledge to reduce our plastic consumption.

♻️💚 Plastic pollution has become a global crisis. Every year, humans create more than 430 million tonnes of plastic. Two-third of this plastic is used for short-lived products that quickly turn into waste, causing severe harm to wildlife, ecosystems, human health, and the global economy (UNEP).

However, there is hope for a better future as efforts are being made to establish a sustainable and circular economy for plastics.

Nonetheless, there is still much work to be done, and it requires the participation of every sector of society.

Small changes in our daily routines can have a big positive impact on the planet we call home. How?

🚫 Say NO to single-use plastics! let's opt for sustainable alternatives like reusable water bottles, cloth bags, and stainless-steel straws.

💡 Education is key! Let's spread awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution. By educating ourselves and others, we can empower communities to make informed choices.

🌍 Remember, every action count! Whether it's participating in beach clean-ups, recycling, or supporting local businesses that promote eco-friendly practices.

🌱 Let's act today for a better tomorrow!

Join Plogging Nigeria in celebrating World Environment Day by pledging to #BeatPlasticPollution.

Together, we can make a significant impact and leave a sustainable legacy for future generations. 🌍💚
